Summer Knitting

Here are the projects I’ve been knitting away at this summer. Wow, never thought I’d utter those words…I swear I used to be a seasonal knitter only!

Pattern: Mender’s Cardigan by Brienne Moody

Yarn: Fiberstory Core DK in Marmalade, and Primrose Classy DK Tangerine Dream, purchased locally at Spun Ann Arbor

I finished up the second sleeve last night, so I’m SO close to finished. I messed up a few times and had to tear back a couple of things, but otherwise it’s been pretty smooth knitting. I’d never tried a fade or an adult-sized cardigan before, so watch out I might just FADE the HELL out of everything now. It’s such a cool visual effect. I like that the fade on this pattern is pretty subtle (it’s even more so due to the fact that I only used two yarns rather than the recommended three).

[Ravelry entry for my cardigan]

Pattern: Winter Morning Socks, modified for fingering yarn

Yarn: Madelinetosh Twist Light Sock, also purchased locally from Spun (this is the same base yarn as I used for these hot pink socks)

I’m now on the second sock of this cabled minty set. This is my first time doing cables, and surprise! cables are not as hard as they look. I’m modifying the pattern for fingering weight yarn, so that took a bit of head-scratching, but it’s working out pretty well. I am not, however, fond of knitting socks one at a time. I am fully living the “Second Sock Syndrome” thing…remind me never to do this again. I think (?) I had thought that trying to do two socks and cables simultaneously would be too hard. I regret those thoughts now.

Pattern: In Bloom Sock Set, Summer Lee Designs

Yarn: Big Little Yarn Co, purchased at Shop La Mercerie

OK, so I haven’t actually started this yet but this is my next knitting project: this rust sock yarn from Big Little Yarn Co - a new-to-me company — is absolutely lovely and I still have a bit of hot pink yarn left to do the toe that will be nice with the warm rust color. PLAAAANS!

Tell me what you’re working on!
