Sweater Knit Jade
Jade is arguably one of my simplest designs (a knit tee pattern) but is probably the pattern I have worn more than any other pattern this year. Close second being either Luna or Rose pants (all hail the Elastic Waist Pant in 2020!!!! Anyone else so over jeans?).
I made this Jade Tee with lightweight cream sweater knit. Sweater knit is something I hadn’t considered using for a tee pattern before, but which — as it turns out — makes it a nice cosy layer for colder weather. I’m wishing now that I’d had the foresight to make the sleeves full length. Oh well; that’s quickly remedied with some of the merino jersey I bought when The Fabric Store had their sale last month. Anyway, here’s a pic that gives you a better idea of the slub texture:
I used my knit interfacing technique for the neckline and hems.
One thing I would change is next time I might go up a size or add a bit to the side and underarm seam allowance; this fabric has a bit less stretch than your typical knit fabric (especially since Jade is a fitted style, so you would normally want to use a knit with at least 50% stretch - my guess is this one is closer to 30%). The bottoms of the sleeves feel a bit snug to me, so just a tiny bit of additional room would probably make a difference.
Also shown in this post: a double gauze Cleo skirt that I made back in 2015 or so.
And here is of course how I more likely look when wearing it.
MASK UP MY DUDES. THE LONG WINTER OF COVID IS NOT YET OVER.
PS. You can find Jade as a PDF pattern in my shop! Cleo is available in both PDF and print.
