Plant People Sweater

It’s a rare thing for me when the completion of a knitted thing occurs just prior to the appropriate season for wearing it, but behold! my finished sweater! just in time for sweater season!!! I used the Plant People pattern by Brienne Moody, and two yarns held together: Mad Hatter by Wonderland Yarns (a sport weight, purchased at Spun here in Ann Arbor), and Kaos organic alpaca (a cobweb fluff purchased in Amsterdam at Stephen & Penelope). I was delighted to return home from Amsterdam to discover that by luck I had managed to guess the correct hue for the Kaos and it was a dead match for the Mad Hatter. Combined they do create the most lovely, fluffy, squishy pullover. [pattern and yarn details on this sweater’s Ravelry page].

The yoke was super fun to knit, as it features leaf-y cable motifs, and God bless Brienne for including the fun eyelet detail at the end of the sleeves, just when — on any other pattern — you would normally want to throw the whole thing in the garbage due to end-of-sleeve boredom.

Also shown in these pics is a red beanie which I finished late last year using the free pattern from Purl Soho and Cashmere Merino Bloom, which is super, super soft. I wear it all the time and it gives serious Life Aquatic vibes but I’m here for it.

Finally, some pics of my Anker’s summer sweater, which I finished in August (previously WIP in this post). While I like the off white color and I think the shape is better than the caramel one I made with the same pattern (which I love, but stretches out terribly), unfortunately the yarn is a bit on the itchy side for me personally, so I don’t tend to reach for it. Oh well - win some, lose some.
