Introducing my upcoming pattern, Citrine
Guess what? I've been working on a new sewing pattern for knits, and though it's not quite ready to launch, I wanted to give you a look at the new design.
UPDATE: Citrine is here and is now available in my shop!
Introducing Citrine:
Citrine is a cropped cardigan pattern designed for knit fabrics, featuring unique raglan seams and finished with double-fold bindings for the neck, waist and cuffs.
Citrine will be offered in our newly-expanded size range with fourteen sizes A-N designed to fit chest measurements up to 66" [168 cm].
The pattern has two views, so in this post I’m including photos of view a, which features a fitted sleeve, boxy fit, and a straight hem. In my next post, I’ll show you view b.
Citrine hits at the low waist or high hip, so although it’s fairly roomy, it has more of a cropped length. I wanted something a bit shorter than your typical oversized cardigans, which often hit at the low hip or below. Since I’m also always thinking about pieces that will complement the MBR pattern library, when I designed this pattern, I had in mind something that would look great with my high-waisted patterns like Cleo and Rose, or layered over the Emerald, Isla, or Trillium dresses. Here I’m wearing it with my gold Trillium dress:
And a more casual outfit (this is how I’m usually wearing it) with jeans, a tank top, and my knitted brioche shawl:
Here’s another Trillium + Citrine outfit pic from my phone:
In another post, I’ll talk about all of the different fabrics I’ve used for my Citrine cardigans, and compare them side by side. This particular fabric combo is fairly lightweight and very drapey, which is quite nice for view a of the pattern.
If you’ve been around this blog for any period of time, you know I love this warm gold color (exhibit a, b), and my pattern names are often the names of gems. For this pattern, I wanted a stone that was yellow in color, and landed on the name “Citrine,” which I think is rather delightful, don’t you?
Citrine will be ready for release soon — I hope to have it ready next week or the week after!! We’re putting the finishing touches on this pattern, so check back or sign up for my newsletter to be notified when it launches!
