Amy's Garnet Top with Cranes
One of the great joys of creating patterns for me is sharing them ahead of time with my friend Amy, who is always excited to try out the newest designs and is an encouraging and enthusiastic supporter of my work. As a Ruby fan and former Ruby model, Amy helped me fit test Garnet last summer, and she created two lovely versions with the pattern, including this beautiful top (the other is a Garnet+Ruby dress, which I’ll post after the pattern launches next week — Garnet and Ruby are sibling patterns, and the pieces are interchangeable)!
For this one, Amy made “view a” of the Garnet pattern, which uses two contrasting fabrics and has separate flat cuffs and no tucks. She added extra length at the hem (4”) to give it a longer, more tunic-like look. I love the combination of the crane fabric that she used for the yoke, which was a scrap given to her from a friend, and the flowy dotted fabric (Merchant and Mills Indian organic cotton lawn) that she used for the body and sleeves.
The result is this stunning Garnet top!
I love how those cranes frame the neckline…
