Recommended Fabrics for Rose

To celebrate the launch of Rose in print, I've partnered with four fantastic independently-owned brick and mortar fabric shops from across the country to put together some great fabric recommendations for sewing Rose.

These four shops all have great apparel fabric selections, and as our launch partners for Rose they also have the Rose print pattern in stock. Consider them a one-stop-shop if you need both pattern AND fabric!

Here are their choices (click the numbers for direct links)…

On the east coast, Christina of Domesticity (Baltimore, MD) picked a bold poppy-hued Brussels washer, as well as some Ruby Star fabrics (including a fun cotton-linen print and Warp and Weft Heirloom stripe) and a gorgeous Merchant and Mills tencel-linen to recommend for this pattern.

(We love Brussels Washer too – see Jess in her Brussels washer Rose shorts at the end of this post)

Jessy from SEAMS here in Michigan had these picks for Rose: a teal raw silk noil, cotton-tencel striped denim, a gorgeous enzyme-washed lyocell twill, lightweight denim from Art Gallery.

(Our Jess made a pair of cropped Rose cropped pants in raw silk noil, too - again, scroll down for a pic!)

Our friends at Stonemountain and Daughter in Berkeley, CA, recommend a selection of Japanese cotton herringbone canvas and cotton-linen prints, as well as Brussels Washer, Essex linens, and raw silk noils.

(My caramel raw silk noil Rose pants are one of my favorite pairs - see a pic at the bottom of this post)

And finally, our friends at Hart's Fabrics back on the west coast in Santa Cruz selected a lovely floral Sevenberry Nara Sakura Homespun, Viscose Linen Noil in Rust, Woven Chindi Stripe, and Brussels Washer Rayon-Linen in Ocean.

(The pale pink Rose pants that Cassie wears on the cover of this pattern are also viscose linen noil - see more examples and read my notes about this fabric in this post on my blog, or scroll down for pics; Jess also made a pair in Rust)

And now for a few of those fabrics in action! First: Cassie in viscose linen noil…

And Jess’ lovely Brussel’s washer Rose shorts!

I hope you’ve enjoyed these fabric suggestions! Big thanks to these shops for participating in our Rose launch! You can find the Rose pattern in print in their shops, as well as the fabric you will need to make a pair.
