Raincoat for Hugo
Last year Hugo expressed a desire to have a head-to-toe dog outfit. This was after I made him a second Flashback tee out of the Red Rover print from my Sidewalk collection (see below for photos) and he realized that when he wore the tee at the same time as his Red Rover backpack, he got lots of compliments. This is a child who discovered he could wink at older ladies when he was three, eliciting many hilarious reactions from said wink recipients, so no surprise there.
I made a mental note to sew a raincoat and Parsley Pants for him immediately. So far, he has the raincoat, backpack, and tee, but no pants, and honestly I am going to have to hurry if I want them all to fit at the same time, because he’s already getting a bit tall for the tee.
Anyway, “Phase 3” of Operation: Dog Outfit is now complete. This one made with the Red Rover laminate fabric in Red Rover from Sidewalk laminates, which I still have a surprising amount of, plus a light grey flannel from the Fanfare solids collection (both from Cloud9, designed by me back in my fabric designing days).
Fun fact: this is the second raincoat I’ve made for him out of the Sidewalk laminates:
Here he is, waving at some stranger who probably told him they liked his raincoat.
OK, so I thought I had posted these Red Rover Flashback tees somewhere on this blog before, ut apparently not. Here they are; the one on the left was a size 5, and the second one was a size 6 (I added a hood - not part of the pattern):
