Studio Weekend recap
Here's some pics of the Made By Rae Sewing Studio Retreat I hosted at my studio last weekend so you can get a little peek into the weekend!!!
We hauled out the serger for a lesson on sewing with a serger (Shannon is shown trying it out, above), as well as lessons on shirring, dart sewing, tracing a well-loved garment to make a new pattern, using a blind hem foot, bust adjustments, and linings -- it was a FULL weekend!
And as you can see, there was lots and lots of sewing, all weekend long.
Here's Karen, giving her lesson on sewing linings:
And Chris and Victoria cutting out their Washi Dresses:
Didn't they turn out great??
Shannon also used the Anna Maria Horner Field Study coordinates print for a Washi (her's was quilting cotton, not voile), but added a pointed collar and sleeve ala the Washi Expansion Pack:
Here's Jaime modeling her Washi Dress!!
Caroline and Amanda helped me test out the Josephine sewing pattern:
And Sonia made a lovely Ruby top!
Of course I couldn't let anyone go home without a schwag bag!!
Special thanks to Robert Kaufman for donating a yard of their oh-so-lovely Union Chambray and a sample pack of fabrics, Monaluna for donating fat quarters and a "On the Go" Dress sewing pattern, Cloud9 Fabrics for donating fat quarters, pens, and a cute little drawstring bag, C&T publishing for donating Aneela's Pop-Out Box book, Sarah Jane for sending over some adorable 2014 calendars, and Green Bee Patterns for those cute little rulers!!! And of course I threw in a little pack of Fanfare flannels as well.
It was so much fun to hang out with all of these ladies (Sonia and Shari are shown with me + baby bump below), they were all a total blast!! I hope to see each and every one of you again soon!!!
PS If you missed out this time but want to join us next time, April Rhodes has agreed to come and teach a weekend studio workshop with me here in Ann Arbor in February!!! This one will also have a garment sewing focus, and she has new patterns coming out soon so it should be very fun! This will probably be the last weekend event I offer for quite a while, so I wanted to try and squeeze one more in before the baby comes this spring. Stay tuned!
