Please note: The pattern previously known as “Washi” has been renamed “Trillium.” Read about the name change here. It’s the same lovely pattern, just with a new name!

The long-awaited Washi update is here! I'm beyond thrilled to announce that our beloved Washi dress & top sewing pattern is now available in our extended size range, and with new bodice pieces for fuller busts. Our extended size range includes eleven sizes (xxs-xl & plus sizes 1-5). We've also updated the instructions to make them even better and give them a fresh new look. And PS. We’re having a SALE to celebrate; scroll to the end of the post for details!

You’ll find resources, size & yardage charts, and links to all Washi-related posts over on the Washi Page.

Washi features a cut-out neckline, cap sleeves, pockets, and shirring in the back for an easy, comfortable fit. One of the best things about this pattern is that no zippers or closures are needed! The pattern can also be made with a basic scoop neckline, sleeveless, and in two lengths (top or dress) to achieve a large number of different looks.

Here’s a look at the original “Washi” dress — so named for the Washi tape fabric design I used to sew this very first version (designed by artist and friend Rashida Coleman Hale):

FAQ

what if I already purchased it?

If you purchased the Washi PDF pattern from our shop in the past, you'll automatically get access to the new sizes. We've sent out an email with an updated link (check your spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox!), or by using the original download link that was sent to you at the time of purchase.

If you purchased the pattern from my shop and didn't receive an automatic update, please fill out our handy request form.

is there a print update?

This is a PDF-only update. We hope to put the new sizes into print soon!

If you purchased the print pattern and want the new PDF update, please consider purchasing it through my shop so that you have access to it and all future updates. If that’s not possible for you (those of you in a financial crunch, those who bought the print pattern but never fit into it - I see you), you can put in a request through our request form

how is the update different from the original?

I wrote a super-detailed blog post about the new size range, new bodice pieces, and all of the other ways this version differs from the original pattern. Read it here!

does the update include copyshop files? metric?

YES! Like all of our women’s patterns, both A0 and 36” wide copyshop formats are included for print shop use. The pattern also includes metric, something we’ve been including with all of our pattern updates since 2018.
