Green Cropped Gemma

We just updated the Gemma tank pattern and decided to add a cropped length to the pattern, in addition to the original length. Gemma is a classic tank top so the original length is super versatile, but I also found myself also making cropped versions to wear with my Cleo skirts and Rose pants. I really like it cropped with high-waisted bottoms (See also Jess’ cropped Gemma + Cleo outfit - stunning, right?).

If you prefer a flat cropped hem, you can make that using this tutorial. Plus there are a bunch more Gemma tutorials on the Gemma page - this pattern has so much potential for variation!!

To test out the new length, I made this cropped green Gemma from a remnant of Loominous cotton I’d been saving for a long time. Long time readers might recognize this fabric from prior makes (this Ruby top and this pair of Luna pants), both of which — alas — I have unfortunately now grown out of. I’m glad I had just enough to squeeze out this fun cropped tank.

The pattern has always had two neckline options - scoop (lower) and jewel (higher), and this is the jewel neckline.

The all new Gemma is now available in my shop with new sizes, this new length option, plus a bunch of other features, which you can read all about in this post.
