Spring Sorrel Sweater for Clementine
Oh wow look it’s a seasonally appropriate knitting post!!! And look at me, such a Generous Mother, with the making of all of the things for Clementine including the gift of life 14+ years ago which should never be overlooked or forgotten. *holds for applause*
Kidding: in actuality I do not get generosity points for this sweater as I actually intended for this Spring Sorrel to be for me hah. But due to a poor yarn choice (all my fault), it turned out smaller than expected, so I gave it to Clementine. Making it more of a testimony to my inability to get gauge than evidence of any sort of magnanimous nature. Though: I do try to use that “gift of life” thing with my children whenever possible and THEY LOVE IT 😬😬😬.
I was aware when I started that this Noro Kakigori yarn was a bit of a gamble, as it is only very technically DK which the pattern calls for and the width of the yarn varies wildly. With that in mind and my propensity to knit loose I soldiered ahead with it anyway, thinking that I could compensate by using a smaller needle and sizing up. Alas that was very incorrect. Oh well! Next time I’ll use something a little closer to what the pattern (Spring Sorrel by Wool & Pine) recommends.
Luckily, it fit Clementine perfectly, who was more than happy to take it off of my hands and begin wearing it immediately after I finished it. She likes that it’s “giving Barbie.” All due to the gorgeous pink and purple flecked Noro yarn (from Spun, of course), which you can see better in the photo below.
I love the feathery yoke pattern - which also is featured in the other Wool & Pine Sorrel series patterns - and hope to make another one soon. This time, for me, REALLY.
