Striped Luna Pants

I fell hard for this striped Warp and Weft fabric from Ruby Star Society when I saw it at Seams last month (was there for an Emerald Trunk show and the opening of their second location in Kalamazoo - hurrah!).

I sensed immediately that it had to be turned into some pants. At first I thought Rose but after some deliberation I settled on Luna, but cut on the cross grain. This can be a dicey situation since that means the side and inseams can stretch out a bit when you’re sewing them - and they did, and yes, it was a wee bit tricky — but ultimately I love the way they look. For anyone wanting to attempt something similar I just want to make sure I go on the record saying that it’s just better to use a fabric where the stripes run cross grain, and not along the grain like this if you want horizontal stripes on a garment in general.

I do love the loose-woven texture of this fabric - it makes them super comfy — and I wore them last weekend at Squam and they were the perfect Saturday-lounging-around pants, along with my cosy Woolfolk Sunday Sweater (shown below), lalalala! Have a lovely weekend, everyone!
